Even though the Brazilian was the year\u2019s points leader, McLaren principal Ron Dennis didn\u2019t believe Ayrton could win at Ferrari\u2019s home turf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Confident he had a chance to break the \u201ccurse\u201d of never scoring a win at Monza, Senna decided to wager a bet against Ron: if he won, he\u2019d get the winning car as a gift.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">In the end, Senna did much more than what was needed to take the car. Besides winning the race, he secured the pole position, posted the quickest lap and led from start to finish, without being threatened by Alain Prost\u2019s Ferrari, his rival in the fight for the title, who finished in second place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0Pole Lap:<\/em><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AQXdxZgjO-U?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">With that result, Ayrton was 16 points ahead of the Frenchman, four races away from the end of the season.
