Today, on the eve of the practice sessions, Ayrton spent the day talking to Dick Benetts, the team principal. It\u2019s a small but well put-together garage \u2013 very clean and functional. Mechanics Dave Stevens and Tony Fairband have everything on hand to assemble the car. Hanging on one of the garage\u2019s walls, we have the laurels Ayrton won this season.\u00a0 One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, from the year\u2019s first nine wins \u2013 and in place of the tenth win, part of a wheel.\u00a0 What\u2019s that about, Ayrton?<\/p>\n<p>SENNA<\/p>\n<p>That was the season\u2019s tenth race, which coincided with the European F3 championship. I ended up suffering an accident thanks to a defective tire.\u00a0 It was my only accident all year.<\/p>\n<p>REGINALDO<\/p>\n<p>This is the car Ayrton will be taking to the track to try to win the title, which is very important for his Formula One prospects. \u00a0Ayrton, here\u2019s what we\u2019re going to do: explain to us what an F3 car is.<\/p>\n<p>SENNA<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a smaller car than an F1 car. Its characteristics are very similar. It\u2019s less powerful and weighs less.<\/p>\n<p>REGINALDO<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s the HP output?<\/p>\n<p>SENNA<\/p>\n<p>160 HP on average.<\/p>\n<p>REGINALDO<\/p>\n<p>And your top speed at Silverstone, for instance?<\/p>\n<p>SENNA<\/p>\n<p>At Silverstone, this weekend, at the end of the straight, around 230 kmh.<\/p>\n<p>REGINALDO<\/p>\n<p>What about in here, in the cockpit? Are a F1 and an F3 car basically the same?<\/p>\n<p>SENNA<\/p>\n<p>Yes, they are very similar in terms of appearance and internal dimensions. We have just the tachometer, the water temperature, fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temperature, the fire extinguisher \u2013 which is kept sealed almost all the time \u2013 and a few other things. Then, we have the steering wheel, which comes off.\u00a0 You just\u2026<\/p>\n<p>REGINALDO<\/p>\n<p>Why is it like that?<\/p>\n<p>SENNA<\/p>\n<p>\u2026click it in place.\u00a0 Because it\u2019s very tight in here. You have to remove the steering so the driver can get in and out.<\/p>\n<p>REGINALDO<\/p>\n<p>The car is almost ready, and it will soon be shipped to Silverstone. Time trials take place tomorrow. And on Sunday, starting at 10:15 AM, TV Globo will be talking about F3.<\/p>\n<p>The race at Silverstone was the first F3 race ever broadcast live on Brazilian TV. Martin Brundle was the winner, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ayrtonsennashop.com\/en\/ayrton-senna-williams-ford-fw08c-1983-test-1-43\/p-1714\/\">JOURNEY<\/a> ended up in second place.
