{"id":21284,"date":"2020-03-04T10:33:12","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T13:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.senna.com\/?p=21284"},"modified":"2020-03-04T10:33:12","modified_gmt":"2020-03-04T13:33:12","slug":"video-senna-acelerava-o-mclaren-mp4-8-pela-primeira-vez-silverstone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.senna.com\/en\/video-senna-acelerava-o-mclaren-mp4-8-pela-primeira-vez-silverstone\/","title":{"rendered":"Video: Senna drove the McLaren MP4\/8 for the first time at Silverstone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Even though the McLaren MP4\/8 wasn\u2019t in the same class as the fastest and most competitive cars ever driven by Ayrton Senna, it\u2019s undoubtedly remembered as one of the machines with which the Brazilian gave some of his best performances, especially racing against the \u201cout of this world Williams\u201d and Michael Schumacher\u2019s Benetton.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">At the unveiling of the car, in February 1993, at Silverstone (England), Senna took his first few laps with the McLaren. He knew immediately that it wasn\u2019t going to be an easy season.\u00a0\u00a0Honda \u2013 McLaren\u2019s engine supplier from 1988 from 1992 \u2013 had left the British team. They were forced to replace the Japanese motor with a \u201cclient\u201d version of the Ford engine, which was even weaker than Ford\u2019s own factory model that powered Schumacher\u2019s and Riccardo Patrese\u2019s Benettons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">During McLaren\u2019s presentation, Senna took the #7 car, which would be driven by Michael Andretti for the first 13 races and then by Mika Hakkinen for the remaining three.
