Senna, the highly anticipated new miniseries from Netflix, produced by Gullane, will begin filming in June this year at the race tracks in Buenos Aires, Balcarce, La Plata, and Mar del Plata. Filming in Argentina will continue until August with the support of the Argentine production company Postre, in partnership with the Uruguayan producer Salado. The production will then move on to Uruguay, with support from the local producer Postre, before heading to Brazil and Ireland.
The Argentine race tracks will serve as the primary locations for the racing scenes. In Argentina, a country with a long and rich history in motorsport, replicas of racing cars from the era were built by the company Crespi, taking more than two years to complete.
With active participation from the Senna family, Senna is directed by Vicente Amorim (who also serves as showrunner) and Julia Rezende. Spanning six episodes, the fictional miniseries portrays the journey of resilience, challenges, joys, and sorrows of the three-time Formula 1 World Champion, while also offering a personal portrait of one of Brazil’s greatest idols, starting from his childhood. The series covers Ayrton’s entire motorsport career, from his early years in karting to the tragic accident at Imola, Italy, during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
