“Even before I got into a car, I knew I was born to race.” Voiced by Gabriel Leone as Ayrton Senna, the official trailer for Senna, released today (29), reveals excerpts from historic and emotional moments that marked the life of one of the greatest idols in world motorsports. Netflix’s new blockbuster, which also features never-before-seen footage, will premiere globally on November 29.
The miniseries will show, over six episodes and for the first time in fiction, the journey of overcoming, misunderstandings, joys and sorrows of Ayrton Senna, exploring his personality and his personal relationships. The story begins with the beginning of the three-time Formula 1 champion’s racing career, from karting to his move to England to compete in Formula Ford, and continues until the tragic accident in Imola, Italy, during the San Marino Grand Prix.
In addition to Leone, the Brazilian cast includes Alice Wegmann (Lilian, Ayrton’s first wife), Camila Márdila (Vivianne Senna, his sister), Christian Malheiros (Maurinho, the driver’s friend), Gabriel Louchard (Galvão Bueno), Hugo Bonemer (Nelson Piquet), Julia Foti (Adriane Galisteu), Marco Ricca (Miltão, Ayrton’s father), Nicolas Cruz (brother), Pâmela Tomé (Xuxa), Rodrigo Veloso (Flávio Lalli, brother-in-law) and Susana Ribeiro (Dona Neyde, Ayrton’s mother). Arnaud Viard (Jean-Marie Balestre), Joe Hurst (Keith Sutton), Johannes Heinrichs (Niki Lauda), Kaya Scodelario (journalist Laura, fictional character), Keisuke Hoashi (Osamu Goto), Leon Ockenden (James Hunt), Matt Mella (Alain Prost), Patrick Kennedy (Ron Dennis), Richard Clothier (Peter Warr), Steven Mackintosh (Frank Williams) and Tom Mannion (Sid Watkins) complete the international cast.
