Today marks the launch of the official Twitter profile for the great Brazilian idol, Ayrton Senna. The date recalls Senna’s fourth consecutive win at the Belgian Grand Prix, in 1991. Overall, it was his fifth victory at Spa-Francorchamps, one of F1 drivers’ favorite tracks.

Fans of the three-time Formula One world champion will have one more way of getting news about their idol: @AyrtonSenna, his official Twitter profile.

The idea of launching the new channel this year came about when a study conducted by IBOPE Repucom showed that Twitter is the most used platform by internet users to express their opinions on Ayrton Senna, followed by Instagram.

Without a single negative comment, most of the posts come from Brazil, followed by the UK and the USA. The number of posts tends to remain stable throughout the year, except on relevant dates, like March 21st, the champion’s birthday, and May 1st.

The #sennasempre hashtag will be used to commemorate the great achievements and special moments of a driver who transcended the sport and became a national hero. That way, fans will be able to share their memories via the microblog service and keep his memory alive.

Check out and follow @AyrtonSenna.
